Tripwire In BOSS Linux Configuring and Policy Updation

Step 1: Install Tripwire and Tripwire depedencies by apt-get command

root@ithelpblog:~# sudo apt-get install tripwire

Step 2: Initializing Tripwire database

root@ithelpblog:~# sudo tripwire –init

Step 3: Configure tripwire policy

root@ithelpblog:~# sudo vi /etc/tripwire/twpol.txt

Step 4:  Update Tripwire policy

root@ithelpblog:~# sudo tripwire –update-policy –secure-mode low /etc/tripwire/twpol.txt

Step 5: Check if have any changes on your Ubuntu/Debian system

root@ithelpblog:~# tripwire –check –interactive
     

Javaodraw installation in BOSS 5.0

1.Go to the following link

http://jaxodraw.sourceforge.net/download/bin.html

2.Download the jaxodraw-2.1-0-bin.tar.gz file.

3.Extract the archive 

tar -xzf jaxodraw-xxx_bin.tar.gz

4.Run the jar file using java

java -jar jaxodraw-2.1-0.jar 

5.Now the Jaxodraw Window will open.

GRUB installation from BOSS Live CD/DVD

Boot the DVD and select the option live

open terminal

give the command as follows:
Note: mountedpartition is the partion, where OS is installed for eg: It might have mounted on /media/XXXXXXXXXXX/

Step I

#mount --bind /dev /mountedpartition/dev
#mount --bind /sys /mountedpartition/sys
#mount --bind /proc /mountedpartition/proc
----

Step II

#chroot /mountedpartition/
#grub-install /dev/sda
#exit

Finally restart your system.

Tata Photon Plus Error - Solution to Configure the Tata Photon Plus in BOSS 5.0 and 4.0

1.Insert the USB Photon Plus Data Card

2.Then Open the terminal and type 'wvdialconf' to get the configuration details about the connected modem.

3.Then open the wvdial.conf in the path /etc/wvdial.conf  and update the configuration file

by updating the Phone ,Username and Password fields only like the following

Before Editing the Configuration File :

[Dialer Defaults]

Init1 = ATZ

Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0

Modem Type = Analog Modem

ISDN = 0

New PPPD = yes

Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0

Baud = 9600

Phone =

Username =

Password =

After Editing the Configuration File :

[Dialer Defaults]

Init1 = ATZ

Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0

Modem Type = Analog Modem

ISDN = 0

New PPPD = yes

Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0

Baud = 9600

Phone = #777

Username = internet

Password = internet

4.Then type the following command in terminal wvdial 

5.Now TATA Photon Plus Connected and get IP Address and DNS Server Addresses automatically .

ISSUE-Windows XP recovery after the BOSS 4.1 installation is not able to proceed or Partition tables Corrupted

ISSUE

When installing BOSS 4.1 in the system have already loaded of with windows xp, installation crossed the partition of disk space successfully.but in the middle the installation cannot proceed and stalled.Then we abort the cancellation of BOSS 4.1.but it not booting windows.

Solution:

I came to know that the partitions tables are corrupted so that windows cannot be bootable. also the active partition also changed.so following steps to recover from the issue

1.Load the DVD ROM with window xp cd and boot with windows xp installation.

2.Windows loading all files and ask for fresh installation(F8) or repair(R)

then select the following option

R to repair

3.Then load the command prompt type the following

 DISKPART

it shows the partition table and the drives available.

4.Delete the partitions those created during the BOSS 4.1 installation.

5.Then restart the system and boot with BOSS 4.1 Live DVD

6.Go to System -> administration -> gparted.

7.Then change  boot flag to  windows xp installed partition.

8.Then window xp was loaded successfully.

MTS MBlaze USB Data Card In BOSS 4.0(GNU/Linux)

1.Insert the USB MTS Mblaze Data Card
2.Then Open the terminal and type 'wvdialconf' to get the configuration details about the connected modem.

3.Then open the wvdial.conf in the path /etc/wvdial.conf  and update the configuration file
by updating the Phone ,Username and Password fields only like the following

4.Then type the following command in terminal wvdial 

5.Now MTS Modem Connected and get IP Address and DNS Server Addresses automatically .
