Step 1

Use the “simple scan” Application for Scanning

Check the scanner is detected through Simple Scan -> Document -> Preferences -> Select the default scanners

HP Color LaserJet PRO MFP M176n Network Scanning :

1. Go to the printer and determine the IP address of printer e.g.  10.x.x.156

2. Key the printer's IP address into chromium web browser

3. Go to Scan, there should be a Webscan option. If it says "You cannot use this function....", you'll need to enable it.

4. Enabling Webscan : Click on "Settings"> "Security">"Administrator Settings" (just "Continue" if there are any warnings regarding Certificates, you may need to click on "Advanced" to continue)

5. Under "Administrator Settings", there should be a "Webscan" option, make sure that is "Checked" and "Apply" or "Save" your settings.

6. Go back to Scan and you should be able to see the options to Scan. Select "Document Source" to be "ADF", "Document Type" to be PDF and "Start Scan"! (You can also select “Document Source” to be “JPEG”)

7. Once scanning is done, Right-click and save your file to the desired destination.

Canon Printer Setup in BOSS

Step 1:
Download and install the drivers
Download the drivers cndrvcups-capt_2.60-1_i386.deb cndrvcups-common_2.60-1_i386.deb
Open terminal and Install the packages
sudo dpkg -i cndrvcups-common_2.60-1_i386.deb cndrvcups-capt_2.60-1_i386.deb

Step 2: Install other postscript fonts & program to reserve ports for the printer
Install portreserve, gsfonts, gsfonts-other, gsfonts-X11
sudo dpkg -i postreserve gsfonts gsfonts-x11 gsfonts-other

Step 3: Restart the printer
sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart

Step 4: Add printer and start the Cannon Printer daemon.
sudo /usr/sbin/lpadmin -p LBP2900 -m CNCUPSLBP2900CAPTK.ppd -v ccp://localhost:59787 -E
sudo /usr/sbin/ccpdadmin -p LBP2900 -o /dev/usb/lp0
sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
sudo /etc/init.d/cups status
Step 5: Check the printer status
captstatusui -P LBP2900
If you are seeing the message “Ready to print”, you are done!. Else you may have to restart the system,
and repeat all the steps from step 4.

Step 6: Start the printer service for every system startup
sudo gedit /etc/rc.local

Add
/etc/init.d/ccpd start
before the word “exit” , save the file and close

connected via USB cable. This is to install the minimal
printer software from flash memory of printer. This service
needs to be disabled on linux in order to have the device
function as a printer.

If this option is not found in the device front panel then

Install device connected and prompt you for disabling the

To detect Smart Install:

ex: $> lsusb
            Bus 001 Device 004: ID 03f0:042a Hewlett­

Packard

where,

Bus ID is 001.

Device ID is 004.

b. Run command "lsusb -s [[bus]:][devnumber] | grep bInterfaceClass"

ex: $> lsusb -s 001:004 | grep bInterfaceClass

c. If the output contains "8 Mass Storage". It means the device has Smart Install service enabled and is detected as mass storage device.

To disable Smart Install:

a. Download SmartInstallDisable-Tool.run (Right-click the link and choose "Save Link As..." to save the file to your computer)



b. Download SmartInstallDisable-Tool.run.asc(Right-click the link and choose "Save Link As..." to save the file to your computer)



c. Validate the digital signature of the file SmartInstallDisable-Tool.run using SmartInstallDisable-Tool.run.asc through gpg command with superuser permissions

d. Run command "sh SmartInstallDisable-Tool.run" in terminal to disable smart install feature in the device

Ricoh Afcio MP 2000 Printer not printing and Printing Blank Pages in BOSS 5.0

Issue:

When installing BOSS  Ricoh Afcio MP 2000 Printer not printing the the test page or not printing the document also printing multiple pages with out the content(Blank).

Solution:

1.Go and Click the Applications → system tools → Administration ->Printing option.

2.Then Click change Option in the Make and Model.

3.It will go for the searching for new drivers and it will show options to configure

Select Option “select printer from data base “

4.Select “Ricoh” as printer manufacturer and Click go forward .

5.From list of printer models select “Afcio MP 2000”

6.Select Ricoh Afcio MP 2000 -CUPS + Gutenprint V.5.2.6 [en].

7.Then Click forward ,It will ask Options Select Option “Use the new PPD(Postscript Printing Description” as is then apply.

8.The Printer worked successfully.

The printer successfully configured.
